Course Description:

In grade five Health Education, acceptance of differences in individual growth and development as well as strategies to prevent the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs are woven throughout the curriculum. Students learn of common communicable and non-communicable diseases and their prevention and treatment, as well as the practice good personal hygiene to prevent the spread of disease. The anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system are introduced. Parent permission is required for students to participate in the Family Life and Human Sexuality unit of this course (more information will be available in the Spring).
